The 2017 Ethiopian year was a year of real progress for HEINEKEN Ethiopia, marked by shared success, responsibility, and a long-term commitment to the country. We were proud to be named a Top Employer and the #1 Private Taxpayer, contributing over 14 billion birr to the national economy.
Through the BURQA program, we supported over 55,000 households. In Harar and Bedele, new homes are giving families a fresh start. Our Livelihood Project helped sustain 95 families, while holiday food support reached 1,000 households across the country. Clean water deliveries continue to reach hospitals and elderly homes in Harar. And in Gondar, through RISE, we empowered 20,000 farmers to build stronger and more resilient livelihoods.
Our sustainability efforts remain strong, with 5.5 million trees planted and 7,400 hectares of land restored since 2013E.C. We’re also reducing waste through recycling and zero-landfill practices.
On the road, our Don’t Drink & Drive campaign is reaching more than 2 million people daily, while our underage drinking prevention program has engaged over 4,000 students across 12 campuses.
We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and even more excited for what’s ahead.
